Blog Tip: How To Fix A Singular/Plural Error With Comment Link

*Full credit for this post goes to: Blog Bulk - Blogger Templates and Blog Help. I changed the post a little bit to make it more clearer but all of the information came from this person's great blog*

You've probably noticed this bug:

► 0 comments
► 1 comments (here's the bug)
► 2 comments

What to do?

<span class='post-comment-link'>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != &quot;item&quot;'>
<b:if cond='data:post.allowComments'>
<a class='comment-link' expr:href='data:post.addCommentUrl' expr:onclick='data:post.addCommentOnclick'><b:if cond='data:post.numComments == 1'>1 <data:top.commentLabel/><b:else/><data:post.numComments/> <data:top.commentLabelPlural/></b:if></a><img src='http://i39.tinypic.com/33z5njo.jpg' style='border:0px'/>
</b:if>
</b:if>
</span>

Replace the part in purple with: comment
Replace the part in red with: comments
That's right, only with the word. Without brackets.

Don't change anything else. Literally highlight the entire section I colored in either purple or red and type in comment or comments.

<data:top.commentLabel/> should literally be changed to comment
<data:top.commentLabelPlural/> should literally be changed to comments

  2. Well, do you know how to use HTML? Don't do this if you don't because you'll screw up your site. :P

  6. I can't get any more specific. Like I said, if you don't know how to use HTML don't do it because you could completely mess up your site.

  7. How did you get so experienced in HTML? I don't even know what it stands for! But, like you told me in Ask Sheesh4, HTML is the building blocks of the Internet. That I know. But that's it. And it's ok if you can't really explain it, just sayin. :p

  8. It stands for Hypertext Markup Language. Just make a test blog and experiment. That's what I did. Over a year later I can fully customize a template.
